Its on…. Enter now for your chance to vie for the Crown of New Zealand Champion! This truly is the main event for Baristas in NZ the winner will get to travel to Austria to compete at the World Barista Championship in Vienna in June 2012.
About the Champs….We are searching for the best barista in New Zealand to represent us each year at the World Barista Championship.
The World Barista Championship organization (WBC) has licensed The New Zealand Coffee Roasters Association to run the New Zealand Barista Championships for 2008 and into the future.
Wellington one event!
NZCRA is committed to running the event in close accordance with WBC standards. Our focus is on producing a field of finalists capable of competing successfully at an international level, and of course a winner who can excel at the world finals.
The National Champion will travel to Vienna in June 2010 to represent New Zealand at the WBC International Final. Kiwis have historically done well at the WBC.
If you are keen to participate there are a few things you should consider. Running to the WBC standards is time consuming and means we can put only 22 contestants through in a day. In the event that there are more than 44 entrants for the championship, we will conduct a selection process, awarding entry to those competitors we consider best able to excel in competition conditions. This means the information entrants provide us at time of entry is particularly important, to help us make a sound selection.

Wednesday 21st: Judges calibration 10am- 4pm, Jessie Street.
Thursday 22nd: Huhtamaki NZ Cup Tasters Championship heats 11am- 2pm, Jessie Street
Thursday 22nd: Competitiors breifing 6:30pm Renouf Foyer, Michael Fowler centre.
Friday 23rd-Saturday 24th: Open heats
Saturday 24th: 5:30pm (approx) announcement of the semi finalists & de-breifing of competitiors
Sunday 25th: Semi finals, Cup Tasters final & final of the Championships. Announcement of the Winner 5:30pm (approx)
