The NZ Roaster Guild (NZRG) is a guild of the NZ Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA). The NZRG was formed in 2012 and is the national representative body for specialty coffee roasters in New Zealand.

The NZRG mission is to build a community of professional roasters who are constantly building upon their understanding of specialty coffee.
Membership criteria:
Membership is open to all individuals who fulfill the following criteria
1. Desire to develop skills as a professional roaster
2. Have a passion for specialty coffee & the roasting craft
3. Pay the annual dues
Annual Membership Dues
There are two prices for NZRG membership:
• Individuals who work for a company which is a member of the NZ Specialty Coffee Association $195.00 + GST
• All other individuals $230.00 + GST
Please note that the membership period is aligned with the Association financial year which runs from 1 April to 31 March. Fees are reviewed annually.
Membership Benefits
• Voting rights
Each member has one vote. Voting includes the election of the NZRG committee at each AGM.
• Committee representation
Each member is entitled to stand for election on the Committee of the NZRG.
• Logo use
All members may use the NZRG logo on specified collateral (subject to guidelines set out in the accompanying document)
• Website presence
All members shall have their membership recognised on a NZRG webpage with their name published & email link (if they desire this).

• E-newsletter
All members shall receive the NZRG member-only e-newsletters.
• Event invitations & participation
Invitations to member-only events such as the NZRG AGM and other networking events
Preferential bookings for industry events such as the NZSCA Symposium
Discounted booking rates for events such as Professional Development courses and social events
The NZRG, alongside the NZSCA, runs of a number of industry events such as the Coffee Symposium, NZ Barista Championship, NZ Latte Art Championship and NZ Cup Tasters Championship.
• Common forum
All membership events and activities are an excellent forum for members to network and interact with other coffee roasters, coffee company representatives and people involved in the industry from within New Zealand and abroad.
• Professional Development
The NZRG, alongside the NZSCA, runs a program of internationally recognised professional development courses that covers three disciplines – coffee preparation, coffee grading and evaluation, coffee roasting and processing.
• Industry Voice
The NZRG provides a focussed voice for the roasting community within the NZSCA Board and wider specialty coffee industry in New Zealand. The NZSCA facilitates communication of industry issues to the public and media where pertinent and relevant.
• Recognition of contribution & excellence
The NZRG through its work with the NZSCA recognises excellence in the coffee industry via Championship events (Barista, Cup Tasters, Latte Art), the Lifetime Achievement Award and the NZSCA member sponsorship fund.
